Within the school we have raised beds where we grow our vegetables and fruits, which at present are bursting at the seams.
We have planted, broad beans, runner beans, peas, courgettes, squash, tomatoes, melons, cucumbers and potatoes.
Marigolds, “poached eggs” and nasturtiums are companion plants to deter black fly and green fly away from the produce.
We have already had chance to sample our produce.
To commemorate D-Day we have planted Flander’s Poppies, which were kindly donated by the British Legion. These are planted in their own special bed within the kitchen garden. These poppies are unique as they have no leaf just the stem with the single flower unlike our native poppies.
